Although I'm really happy with where this video is at right now, I still think there's a lot I can do to make it better. I appreciate all the comments saying it looks professional and could be on television, that is the "feel" I was shooting for.

In retrospect, I think going back and adding some audio, perhaps the WSU fight song like my audio story, into those game transition slides would add a lot.

I really like the suggestion of not throwing all the game information up at once, instead slowly revealing it so there is some anticipation grown.

My transitions get a little repetitive about halfway through the video so when I go back and finalize the video I think I'll mess around with some new transitions.

Also, I'm sure it only bothers me, but the PIP during the game footage is not always in the same place during different shots, so I'm going to have to go in and make that uniform throughout.

The video seemed very professional with the transitions and the two shots in one frame was really cool too. By the look of your page, you obviously love baseball and this showed because of the apparent effort you put into this video. A couple notes however, around 3:07 the audio skipped and made it difficult to understand the player. Another thing is that I don’t really watch baseball that much but I understand some things from my little league softball days so eventually I understood what the captions meant next to the players names. But for those who do not understand baseball they may not get those abbreviations at all. So you maybe want to make the font smaller so that you could fit in the entire title, or maybe have two lines of text so that those who do not follow baseball slightly understand what position these people play.

Hey Brett,
Your video is very good! It looks almost like a actual video that can be a television or something. You must have some experience with adobe premiere? I really like how you have interviews playing the little video screen and other footage in the background. Although, right now I don't really understand the story, I'm guessing you will include a video over Or Introduction to this. Be sure to include some basic things about baseball for people like me who do not understand at all. But I think overall, the video is great, smooth and very detailed. I would only add some little detailed to make the video more exciting. Such as some titles slides and/or maybe some music. The final step to make this complete is your story! Your time and effort is definitely seen in this video and our final project will be even better.

I love it! It is very professional, and well done. I like the use of the interview with the footage of the game in the background. The transition are used appropriately and sparingly to make the video flow well. You might not want to do it with every interview as it becomes a little distracting after a while. I cant wait to see what you come up with in terms of narration and the additions of things you mention in your post.

I’m not too much of a fan of the black over crimson for the titles as some of the players and staff wear crimson coats and the back layer of the text tends to blend in to their clothing. You might reverse the colors (crimson over black) to make the text stand out more clearly.

You might want to add some music in the beginning and ending of the film to set more of a tone and to make it seem less flat before you get to the meat of the video.

Way cool getting the athletic department to give you the footage!

The player yawning at 1:30 looks kind of strange, you should let the audio of the question run over the other footage, and then cut to the player when he is ready to answer.

I am not familiar with WSU baseball, so for me it would be super helpful to put an overlay with the player's name and position. The audience can assume what they play by watching the footage that plays during the interview, but telling them is even nicer.

Hang a little suspense on the scores. I as the audience don't just want the information thrown at me. Drip it to me in bits so that it is more exciting to follow.

Great video!

Really good job so far! It's cool that you were able to include interviews into the draft seeing as how most of the class was unable to do that, so good job! I have a few suggestions. Firstly, when you are talking, it sounds like you are too close to the microphone. I'm not sure if that makes sense, kind of like wind is going by while you're talking. Try and fix this so it can be easier to hear you speak. Also, I agree with the above comment that it seems rushed.. maybe try fading in and fading out the interviews. I highly suggest interviewing some WSU fans. I also suggest that you introduce yourself and why you are focusing on WSU Baseball, but so far so good and I look forward to hearing your final audio story!

Brett i really enjoyed how you incorporated interviews into your audio story. It was also cool that you did it on the wsu baseball team. some suggestions i have are to fade everything together so its not so sudden. also if you lowered the noise on the clips you inserted it might not sound so harsh. the concept is awesome and i think if you were able to put maybe some background music? or maybe the wsu fight song behind some of the clips it would be really good! If you could also interview some players, coaches or fans for what they hope to see the 2012 season be like that would be cool to hear as well. Other than that I think you did a great job for a draft and I look forward to hearing your final!

I think this is a great start I can see the direction your taking it very easily. I agree that some audio from the players would make the piece sound more whole. Im not sure if the pop behind the talking was meant to be there or if they were just pops from the way the audio was recorded. But maybe putting some ambient noise behind the piece would defer the listeners from catching that. The only suggestions I have for you is that it seems a bit rushed. More specifically at the ends of the clips form the head coach. I believe there is a tool in the effects where you could add silence. To me this would make it seem a little more natural. But other than that everything sounds pretty good to me!

Brett, I believe you’ve done an excellent job executing your theme with this logo. I can easily see your passion for baseball and your critical choices in deciding what elements to include. If I were to have to give a critique, I would have to say that the bottom half to me is pretty flawless. I like that you incorporated “Cougar Baseball” using the techniques we’ve learned from our first Illustrator tutorial and agree that Univers is a very fitting font. I find it classic and simple with enough edge for a sports’ incorporated design. Your design to make the baseball player a silhouette (which I hope I can figure out who it is as soon as baseball season begins this Friday…Go Cougs!) is timeless, and a great way to display that anyone could relate or substitute any player in its place. Although the logo is flat, it creates a neat motion-effect only fitting for this theme. Incorporating the Bryan Tower is smart and really high-lights the difference that WSU sets apart, however, maybe altering its location may help balance this design…potentially behind the baseball player but expands across the entire length of the baseball? Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Brett,
I like how you incorporated the clock tower, a symbol of Washington State University (WSU), to represent WSU in your logo. Although, it is drastically different than the rest of the logo, if that was your intention I think it could stick out and still look polished. I think this can be done using some of the style tools in Illustrator. Plus, I think you’re missing the top of the clock tower too.
The baseball player is my favorite part. I enjoy how the silhouette is completely black, which to me means this could be any baseball player. I might consider raising the silhouette a bit so the feet are showing, and maybe make a cloud of dust coming up behind the feet? I think that would add motion to an otherwise still image.
The rounded corners are a nice touch for the text. For a logo, I feel the text might be overbearing, it seems to be the focus of the logo.
I hope this information was helpful and you have fun reworking your design!
